Visitor Experience Representative
The Visitor Experience Representative (VER) serves as the first point of contact for guests at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). This public-facing role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting with admissions, promoting memberships, answering visitor inquiries, and ensuring that all guests feel welcomed and informed. VERs play a key role in delivering a positive and accessible museum experience for a diverse audience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Greet visitors warmly and provide excellent customer service at all times.
Sell general admission tickets, memberships, and special event tickets using the museum’s point-of-sale system.
Offer accurate information about museum exhibitions, public programs, special events, and amenities.
Assist guests with accessibility needs and provide guidance on navigating the museum.
Promote NOMA memberships and explain benefits to prospective members.
Monitor visitor flow in the lobby and exhibition areas to ensure a welcoming and safe environment.
Respond to visitor inquiries via phone, email, and in person in a courteous and professional manner.
Support the museum's safety and security protocols, including emergency procedures when necessary.
Assist with the opening and closing of the visitor experience desk and related areas.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, and report facility or maintenance issues as needed.
Participate in regular training sessions on customer service, exhibitions, and museum programming.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Visitor Experience Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, or a related field.
Interest in the arts, museums, and public engagement.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and provide inclusive and respectful service.
Comfortable using computers, point-of-sale systems, and standard office equipment.
Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and special events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to remain at a desk or front-facing station for extended periods.
Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally.
Must be able to communicate clearly in person and via phone.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high visitor volume.
