Position Summary


AACS is seeking to hire a new Assistant Coach for the Boys Cross Country team for the 2026 season. Our preseason training begins in mid-June, and the season runs from August through early November. As a coach in our community, you serve as a model of Christ-like leadership, guiding student-athletes toward spiritual formation and maturity. All coaches in our community must profess their faith in Jesus Christ and be actively involved in a local church. We are seeking a coach with competitive experience at the high school and collegiate levels, and strongly prefer applicants who hold an RRCA Level 1 / USATF Level 1 Certification, or an equivalent.

 

We believe that athletic fields are classrooms, and that coaching, playing, teaching, and training are acts of worship. The ideal candidate is committed to integrating faith and sport, shepherding students, and cultivating a culture of excellence rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 


Key Responsibilities


Program Leadership & Culture

  • Model Christ-like leadership, serving as a mentor and spiritual example to student-athletes.
  • Promote a team environment that emphasizes integrity, humility, discipline, accountability, and joy.
  • Use practices, games, and team meetings as opportunities to teach life lessons that reflect the mission of the school.

Player Development & Training

-             Assist with leading daily practices and implementing training plans provided by the head coach

-             Attend summer training (weekday mornings) and all practices, meets, and team events in season (M-F 3:15-5:45, with meets on weekday evenings and Saturdays)

-             Run practice when the Head Coach is away at the girls’ team meets

-             Align with the head coach’s vision and reinforce team culture

-             Build positive, professional relationships with runners

-             Model positivity, humility, and a strong work ethic

Spiritual Requirements

-             growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through lifestyle, character, and testimony.

-             Agreement with and commitment to uphold the school’s Statement of Faith.

-             Passion for discipleship and Christ-centered mentorship of students.

Sport Specific Requirements

We compete in the MIAA conference and participate throughout the state in

local and regional invitational meets. We are seeking a coach with competitive experience at the high school and collegiate levels, and strongly prefer applicants who hold an RRCA Level 1 / USATF Level 1 Certification, or an equivalent.

-             RRCA Distance Running Coach Level I, USATF Level 1, or comparable certification (or willingness to obtain)

-             Prior coaching and/or personal competitive running experience

-             Must be able and willing to run most afternoons with the boys’ team during practice
