Van Driver/Transportation

General Description:

Under the direction of Director of Maintenance/Social Services Director/Director of

Nursing Services, the Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting clients to planned

activities and medical service providers.

Essential Duties:

• Provides a safe, clean environment for residents in accordance with Resident Care

• Drives company-owned vehicles in order to transport residents to appointments or

• activities.

• Tests vehicle equipment such as lights, brakes, horns, and windshield wipers in

• order to verify proper, legal operation.

• Notifies the Executive Director of any necessary repairs or mechanical problems

• in a timely manner.

•  Picks up residents at prearranged locations and transports to specific destinations.

• Verifies that the Facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident

• comfort and convenience.

• Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive

• emphasis as well as a calm environment for the residents during transport.

• Completes and maintains accurate accident and incident reports in a professional and timely manner.

Education/Training: High school Diploma or equivalent preferred, or experience in a

related field. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Must maintain a clean, valid and

current driver’s license. Clean CDL license may be required under Department of

Transportation guidelines.
