Valet Attendant

join our team and contribute to our continued growth.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND POSITION PURPOSE
Act as a host or hostess to all arriving and departing guests. Acknowledges and greets each guest with enthusiasm and prescribed terminology immediately upon the guest’s arrival and delivers “Service with a smile.”
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create excitement through guest interaction and conversation.
- Delivers five-star service by accurately escorting arriving guests to rooms, handle baggage transfers, and accommodate guests’ special requests.
- Perform same functions when guests depart
- Act as valet attendant as business needs dictate.
- Must be a team player with entire hotel staff.
- Must be courteous, friendly and able to represent the hotel professionally to hotel guests.
- Must be knowledgeable on the various types of rooms and amenities that are available at the hotel, as well as the activities and services available.
- Must be very familiar with the local attractions in the surrounding areas in order to comfortably make recommendations and give directions.
- Must be service-oriented and actively looking for ways to help people.
- Active listener: gives full attention to what others are saying and takes time to understand the points being made while asking appropriate questions and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Ability to write effectively as appropriate for the needs of teammates and guests.
- This is a rewarding and physically demanding job. Candidates must be able to perform the required duties of a valet attendant (jogging, long periods of being on feet, extended periods of being outdoors in all types of weather, etc.)
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and over the phone, with Staff, Senior Management team members, and Ownership.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to promote services of the hotel.
- Ability and willingness to adhere to all Averill Hospitality policies and ensure departmental personnel compliance.
- Ability and willingness to work with various office equipment and software systems.
- Must maintain a positive influence in the community and positive relations with area vendors.
- Able to operate a manual transmission.
- Good driving record (no more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years; no DUI, DWI, reckless driving, or suspended/revoked license.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
- High School or High School equivalent is an asset
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in hospitality industry an asset.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
SCHEDULE / HOLIDAYS/ PTO
This position requires regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Valet is expected to usually keep a 5-day-a-week schedule but adjust as needed according to business needs; for example, a 6-day week may be required during peak business periods. A workweek of up to 50 hours per week can be expected. However, it can be more or less, depending on business needs. Working evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required. Holidays and PTO are in accordance with the AH Non-Exempt Employee policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Typically, PTO will not be permitted during June 15 - September 15 and December 15 – January 5.
