SUMMARY
Akiba Yavneh Academy seeks an experienced science educator to join our Upper School faculty for the 2024-2025 school year. The Upper School science program requires all students to complete Biology in 9th grade, Chemistry in 10th grade, and Physics in 11th grade, with the opportunity for more advanced and AP science courses. For this position, candidates must be experienced in teaching one or several of the core sciences of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A strong candidate will be a compassionate, student-centered teacher with experience in developing lesson plans using a variety of teaching methods.
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach introductory and upper-level courses in Physics, Chemistry, or Biology, as well as advanced topics from your area of expertise.
Vary instructional techniques and learning opportunities to accommodate a variety of learning styles.
Partner with the student, family, administration and the Student Support Services Department to support students with learning differences or those experiencing challenges.
Organize and curate on-line classroom material for effective in-class instruction.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
A bachelor’s degree is required, and the degree may be in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related fields
A master’s degree is preferred
Five or more years of experience teaching upper School science.
Interdisciplinary training and experience teaching in various areas of science
Positive, energetic approach to teaching and working with young people
Effective and personable communication style conducive to interacting with students, parents, colleagues, and other members of the Akiba Yavneh community
