SUMMARY
The Universal Banker II position is responsible for providing accurate cash handling and positive client interactions while performing a variety of services, including but not limited to, handling all teller transactions, performing account maintenance, assisting clients with inquiries, promoting and cross-selling bank services and products, and other customer service-related functions.  


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provides prompt, efficient, accurate, and friendly customer service in response to requests, inquiries, or problems concerning bank services or products, whether in-person, over the phone or email. Has the ability to research and analyze data in order to resolve standard customer problems. Establishes relationships with customers by promoting customer care, answering customer queries, and researching customer accounts. Explains service charges, statement problems, account and product features, and related items to clients as requested.
  • Processes a variety of teller transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, payments, transfers, ATM, mail and night drop transactions, official checks, and GL transactions. Verifies deposit amounts, examines checks, bonds and cashier’s checks to determine acceptability.  Accurately verifies signatures and client balances on withdrawals. 
  • Understands the intricacies of teller transactions, including but not limited to, following Bank Secrecy Act policies and procedures in order to assist in detecting and preventing money laundering and other illegal activities, reviewing endorsements, placing holds on deposits when appropriate, detecting fraud by following the bank’s policies and procedures, ensuring clients are authorized to transact business on an account.
  • Maintains accurate cash and coin supply in individual cash drawer, ATM, and vault, while staying within maximum limits. Balances all cash according to bank guidelines, and keeps currency and coins in a neat and orderly arrangement.
  • Promotes the Bank’s business by explaining, promoting, suggesting, and/or selling products or services to prospects or current clients.  Builds and maintains customer relationships.
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of financial industry status and trends.
  • Identifies and addresses client needs by providing a wide variety of banking services which may include: opening new accounts, performing maintenance, issuing/activating ATM cards, providing safe deposit box services, ordering checks, assisting clients with online banking services, accepting wire requests., mobile banking, bill pay, etc.
  • May be required to become a commissioned notary public.
  • Assists customers by uncovering their financial needs, building and strengthening client relationships, providing excelling customer service, ensuring client satisfaction, and processing transactions when needed.
  • Prospects for business opportunities by providing clients with knowledgeable information regarding bank products and services, cross selling to retain and grow client relationships, answering business questions and helping others identify new business opportunities.
  • Leads by creating an outstanding client experience by resolving customer service issues, opening new accounts, offering services, and helping the bank meet sales objectives.
  • Assists clients by handling teller transactions accurately and efficiently when needed. 
  • Maximizes the depth and profitability of the client relationship by partnering and referring to sales positions in other departments.
  • May be able to accept consumer loan inquiries and applications.
  • Responsible for direct participation in the achievement of personal and office sales goals.
  • Effectively handles more complex client problems and inquiries, as well as ensuring that resolution and follow-up are completed in an accurate and timely matter.

QUALIFICATIONS

·         High School diploma or GED required.  Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent degree from a two-year college preferred.

·         1 - 3+ years of relevant work experience in customer service.
