Truck Driver
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the daily transportation, loading and unloading of Donated Goods, New Goods, Store Supplies, Fixtures, and other items as needed. Provide direction to the Driver Helpers.
1. Drive a 16’ to 24’ standard transmission box truck or a 48 ft Tractor/Trailer combination in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all state, federal and local driving laws.
2. Follow a daily dispatched schedule and give directions to truck helpers and/or trainees.
3. Collect and transport donated goods from private homes, businesses, or other areas to designated processing sites.
4. Transport salvage material, store supplies, containers, and waste, as directed.
5. Inspect and service truck daily for proper operation. Inform the Transportation Manager of any necessary repairs and safety hazards.
6. Monitor and order truck supplies through the Transportation Manager.
7. Unload trucks and move merchandise throughout the stores, sales floors, and warehouse.
8. Provide polite, responsive, and courteous service to donors and to issue receipts.
9. Compare Bill of Lading to truck load for accuracy of merchandise.
10. Use hands free system to communicate with supervisor or dispatcher regularly.
11. Pick up and distribute interoffice mail and supplies from the warehouse to the proper location and vice versa, when requested.
12. Maintain a clean and hazard free truck.
13. Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
14. Attend all staff meetings as scheduled.
Skills and Abilities:
1. Must be able to interact professionally with, all customers, vendors, and staff members
2. Must be able to market Goodwill and explain the mission to the public.
3. Must have extensive knowledge of the service area and road systems.
4. Must be able to read and follow a street map.
5. Must be available to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including days, nights, and weekends.
6. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.
7. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a moving vehicle.
8. Must be able to stand, and walk, for prolonged periods of time, frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
9. Must have vision corrected to within normal limits.
10. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
11. Must be able to function in a busy work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
Requirements:
Must maintain a Chauffer License or Class A Commercial Driver’s License. Must have a current DOT Medical Card. High School diploma or GED preferred, not required. One-year prior driving or transportation experience or training preferred; must possess valid state driver’s license and must be insurable through the Company’s insurance carrier. Must pass drug screen and DOT physical, as required. Regular attendance is required.

Frequent physical exertion, exposure to inclement weather; exposure to truck fumes and noise, exposure to donated goods.
