Position Overview:

As a Transportation Aide, you will provide transportation services for ambulatory and wheelchair-dependent elders to medical appointments and other necessary destinations. When not assigned to transportation duties, you may work as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) on the nursing floor as directed. Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely transporting elders to hospitals, physician’s offices, and other medical institutions.
  • Conducting safety checks before vehicle use and reporting concerns to the Director of Maintenance.
  • Assisting with transferring elders in and out of vehicles, including wheelchair lifts.
  • Working as an STNA on nursing floors when no transportation appointments are scheduled.
  • Participating in mandatory in-service training and team meetings.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and safeguarding sensitive information.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary education (high school or GED) or equivalent.
  • Valid Ohio State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License with an excellent driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Willingness to work with older adults and a commitment to the organization’s mission.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting for up to 75% of the workday.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently.
  • Ability to assist elders in wheelchairs and operate handicap-accessible vans and buses.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids, hazardous driving conditions, and emotionally distraught individuals.
