Trails & Park Maintenance Supervisor

We are presently looking for our next great team member as Trails & Parks Maintenance Supervisor to join our Park Operations team. If you can provide our guests with an amazing experience, combined with working as an energetic part of our resort, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities include: (but not limited to)
* Coordinate, assign, and supervise the work of the Trails & Park Maintenance team
* Initial and on-going training of staff in job duties, safety protocols, equipment maintenance, etc.
* Monitor quality of the work, safety, and security of the team.
* Maintain Park grounds throughout the Permit area including campgrounds, roadways, and front and back country trails to BC Parks standards.
* Maintain MPR hiking trails as well as Alpine and Nordic ski runs/trails in preparation for the Winter season.
* Repair/paint structures and facilities as needed.
* Perform landscaping duties as directed including weeding, lawn mowing, raking, blowing leaves, etc.
* Creating an effective water sprinkler rotation schedule; maintain and ensure efficient use of water.
* Assist in maintaining roadways and parking lots; ensure ditches and culverts are clear to promote proper drainage; shoulders, edges and ditches are free from encroaching vegetation to BC Parks standards.
* Follow all safety guidelines for the operation of equipment and chemicals.
* Represent BC Parks and Manning Park Resort in a professional manner.
* Establish work schedules, procedures, etc. with Park Operation Manager and coordinate activities with other department supervisors/managers.
* Resolve work-related problems such as incident reports.
* Monitor and request supplies for the team when needed.
* Maintain communication with other staff members.
* Assist the Alpine team with Lift Maintenance, Cat Maintenance and other projects when needed.
* Assist the operation department with other tasks as required which may include but is not limited to cleaning and maintaining parks facilities such as pit toilets, garbage bins, campsites, picnic tables, firepits communal areas, wash houses, and shower stalls.
* Other tasks as required within MPR
Job Requirements / Qualifications:
* Experience supervising a small team (up to 6 people)
* Value safe working practices.
* Experience working with landscaping and power tools (Chain Saw, Brush Saw, Pole Saw, leaf blower)
* BC or out of province bucking and liming certification with at least 1 year experience in a commercial setting. Strong chainsaw experience would be considered with the possibility of obtaining a BC certification at MPR.
* First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain one (Level 3, Wilderness or higher preferred). Please note that MPR may provide or facilitate access to a First Aid Level 3 course in May (80h).
* Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Effective time management and organizational skills.
* Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
* Ability to work in a high-paced environment as both an individual and a team player.
* Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
* Available to work flexible hours. 32-40hrs per week.
* Minimum Class 5 driver's license with a clean drivers abstract
* Clean criminal record check.
* Basic mechanical understanding is an asset.
* Knowledge of irrigation systems is an asset.
* Knowledge of small engine repair is an asset.
* Skid steer and/or heavy equipment operation is an asset.
* Experience driving an ATV is an asset.
* Fluent in English. A second language would be considered an asset
* Opportunity to transition to a Lift Operator or Park Supervisor role next Winter for the right person.
This is a Seasonal Position so you must be able to commit to the role for the full Summer Season (May - October)
