Who We Are:
Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.
Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Tractor Wagon Driver, the Tractor Wagon Conductor assists in the general operation and maintenance of the Tractor Wagon and oversees general boarding procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assist passengers in boarding and disembarking the Tractor Wagon, ensuring passengers adhere to general rules of safety while on route enabling an enjoyable experience
- Act as a guide for guests during wagon rides, offering insightful commentary on park attractions and aiding with navigation inquiries
- Offer guests information about daily park activities, attractions, and dining options
- Collect passenger counts to ensure accurate tracking of attendance and record data for lead hand
- Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the Tractor Wagon by picking up litter and promptly reporting malfunctions, property damage, and unsafe conditions
- Respond to emergencies calmly and efficiently, such as dealing with unexpected breakdowns or accidents, instructing passengers on procedures based on direction from the Tractor Wagon Driver
- Provide an exceptional visitor experience through friendly and courteous interactions with guests, staff, and volunteers, using polite greetings, actively acknowledging guests, and handling situations positively
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors with a customer-focused approach, providing courteous and friendly customer service and information to enhance the overall visitor experience
- Provides support to the Tractor Wagon Driver by assisting when necessary
- Perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications:
- Experience in customer-service roles is preferred
- Problem identification and solving, as well as organizational skills are required
- Good English language proficiency is required for effective communication, both verbally and in writing, to interact with park visitors to provide clear and helpful information
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-faced setting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to go through Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
Special Clothing and Equipment:
- Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park; and
- Footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department, will be provided by the employee.
Special Working Conditions:
- The position will be exposed to weather extremes and will work both indoors and outdoors; and
- This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must have the ability to stand for long periods of time, frequently board and off-board the Tractor Wagon, protecting road crossing and walk throughout the Park for extended periods.
Hours of Work:
- The position has various scheduled hours of work including weekends, statutory holidays, fluctuating hours and overtime as required.
