Territory Manager / Sales Representative - Newfoundland & Northern Territories

This is a remote role Full-time $50000.00-$65000.00/year

The Territory Manager plays a crucial role in growing sales by representing products from Canada’s Island Garden’s suite of brands to our customers. The role will be focused on deepening relationships and increasing sales velocity and volume with licensed cannabis retailers and driving growth by strategically onboarding new retail partners to increase SKU distribution, execute trade programs, manage inventory levels, and educate staff and consumers.

Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Sales & Distribution

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with existing retail partners (store owners, managers, and budtenders) in assigned territory to maximize sales and ensure their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Be the “go-to” sales representative/territory manager to assist retail store managers in managing inventory, assortment, and profitability.
  • Create brand awareness and, community engagement within your given territory.
  • Proactively seek out new sales opportunities and build partnerships that maximize distribution, visibility, and service.
  • Propose, coordinate, and activate creative sales promotions. 
  • Analyze sales activities, market conditions and competitive pricing to meet company objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a sales pipeline, ensuring consistent growth and consistently achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Collaborate with retailers to develop/activate effective distribution and merchandising strategies for our products in their stores.
  • Devise a sales route plan and map for the territory, maximizing efficiency in sales operations within the designated sales territory.
  • Create and manage efficient call schedule ensuring coverage of remote territories. 
  • Attend provincial and regional trade shows and events.

Relationship Management

  • Conduct regular visits/in-store education sessions to staff and consumers to ensure product knowledge, offer training, and get feedback.
  • Engage with clients regularly through a mixture of visits, calls, and industry events.
  • Effectively manage remote relationships through regular call cycles.
  • Work closely with retail partners as a valued and trusted business partner to understand their unique challenges and opportunities.
  • Resolve any issues or concerns of retail partners in a timely and professional manner.

Administration & Support

  • Maintain a detailed and timely customer relationship management log to be reviewed regularly with management.
  • Gather and relay market feedback regarding product trends and marketing strategies.
  • Administration for territory ensuring records and information databases are up to date.
  • Regularly report sales progress, challenges, and market insights to management.
  • Collaborate with the Key Partnerships Manager and Director of National Sales in planning sales activities and setting KPIs for region.
  • Achieve KPI targets on sales volumes, distribution, market share, placement/visibility, and retailer engagement/visitation.
  • Manage promotional expenses for the territory.
  • Understand and comply with federal and provincial cannabis regulations while remaining up-to-date and educated on changing regulatory conditions (municipal, provincial, and federal) as they relate to the assigned territory.

The Ideal Candidate has:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Sales, Category, and/or Account Management experience in a regulated/restricted category such as cannabis and/or alcohol industry.
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree, or a demonstrated equivalent training and experience.
  • Cannabis product knowledge and passion for the industry.
  • Existing credibility and a strong network within the cannabis retail industry is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated exceptional organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to foster relationships with accounts and customers, consistently delivering outstanding customer experiences across all channels.
  • Display self-motivation and the ability to thrive while working independently and remotely.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a well-developed professional manner and a focus on positive, productive business relationships.
  • Have access to a safe/reliable vehicle and hold a valid Provincial Driver's License.
  • A criminal records check will be required after job offer is communicated.
  • All employees must be 19+.

Job Details

  • Reports to: Key Partnerships Manager (East)
  • Salary: Starts at $50,000 annually
  • Status: Full-time, permanent, remote position

Assigned Zone: Newfoundland and Labrador, Northern Territories, and other regions as assigned.
