Reporting to the Field Control Engineer, the Field Control Technician will be responsible for the daily monitoring of work areas and responding to daily problems recorded in the field control logbook. Based at the Windfall site, in the Nord-du-Québec region, he/she will be required to work a 15-13 schedule. Transportation, lodging and meals provided.

Duties and responsibilities

  •  Carry out field inspections and job observations to ensure the quality of field support installation;
  • Write observation reports;
  • Draw various plans related to the field control discipline (rehabilitation, wiring, shotcrete, etc.);
  • Carry out structural surveys;
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, monitoring and interpretation of geotechnical investigations;
  • Carry out field campaigns and rock descriptions;
  • Apply the field control program;
  • Participate in the deployment of the seismic system for the underground project;
  • Work closely with the entire engineering team to ensure consistency between the various disciplines;
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and accident prevention standards, and implement corrective measures;
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and other regulations and laws;
  • Perform any other tasks related to the position that are relevant to the success of the project.

Technical skills

  • Knowledge of various processes according to industry standards;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specialized software such as AutoCAD and Rocscience, 
  • Knowledge of Deswik software (an asset);
  • Good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites.


Qualifications required

  •  A degree in mineral technology;
  • At least 5 years' relevant experience in the mining industry, including 3 years in field inspection;
  • A valid class 5 driver's license;
  • Hold mining units (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 et 7);
  • Possess a valid explosives license.
