JOB SUMMARY

Our Early Childhood Ministry champions every person to be the good news of Jesus in every place. We do this by partnering with parents to be the primary disciplemaker in the lives of their children and by offering a Christ-centered program to children in a safe, secure, and loving environment, allowing each child to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally, and socially. The Summer Adventures teacher has a responsibility to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment so that all children can experience the love of Jesus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Abide by all state licensing guidelines as set forth by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services
  • Create a fun, camp-like environment that supports the developmentally appropriate needs of the children in the assigned class
  • Design and submit daily plans which reflect an engaging learning environment supportive of age appropriate needs of the children
  • Work cooperatively with a co-teacher and share in the tasks of planning and teaching
  • Attend workshops, courses and other training opportunities for personal or professional growth outlined and approved to include the required annual training hours per Texas State Licensing
  • Maintain a clean, organized and age appropriate classroom with a variety of daily learning opportunities.
  • Perform all job duties outlined in accordance with the CBC Personnel Manual, the Summer Adventures Employee Handbook, and State Minimum Standards
  • Actively engage in discipleship with staff, parents, and/or volunteers within the Early Childhood Ministry
  • Volunteer/serve as needed for both Easter and Christmas Team CBC weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular part-time position. For seasonal employees (June-Aug only), hours are M-Th 7:30 am to 2:30pm with availability to work occasionally until 5:00pm for our Aftercare Program. For regular Part-Time Employees (year long), weekend services and weeknight Kids Club are a required part of the working schedule. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
  • Must be able to frequently lift children up to 75 pounds
  • Will experience occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (teacher) // enrolled in a teacher assistant program through high school (assistant)
  • Two (2) + years working with children or volunteer experience
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & First Aid required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in a childcare/classroom setting with occasional outside events/activities that require prolong standing. The environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple activities in a childcare setting.
