PRIMARY FUNCTION

This position is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing IT systems within Emergicon’s Information Technology Department. The Systems Administrator will ensure the reliability, security, and performance of servers, networks, and applications used within the organization. This role requires a commitment to the company’s mission and core values, demonstrating those values in all aspects of daily work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer and maintain hybrid Azure/on-premises infrastructure, including Active Directory, Office 365, and MS SQL databases

Develop and implement PowerShell scripts and Azure Automation workflows to automate routine processes (user provisioning, folder structures, permissions management)

Manage Hyper-V virtualized environment, server infrastructure, and Synology backup systems

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of all systems, processes, and configurations

Support SOC 1 Type 2 compliance requirements and maintain related policies

Monitor system performance, uptime, and security; proactively address potential issues

Implement and manage VPN connectivity between Azure and on-premises environments

Assist with administration of Meraki networking technology

Coordinate with third-party MSP providers while developing capabilities to bring these functions in-house

Make recommendations for technology improvements aligned with business needs

Participate in design, development, and implementation of software solutions using standardized methodologies

Conduct interviews with users to determine requirements for new and revised systems

Develop problem definitions, analyze symptoms, and design alternative solutions

Coordinate system resources to maximize computer uptime and throughput

Participate in 24-hour non-routine problem solving as required

Other job-related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Proficient with computer hardware and software, specifically word processing, financial databases, and spreadsheets

Understanding of Cloud based VOIP systems

Proficiency in MS and Linux Server Systems and Operating Systems

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V

Strong knowledge of Azure, Active Directory, Office 365, and Windows domain administration

Familiarity with MS SQL databases for troubleshooting purposes

Expertise in PowerShell scripting and Azure Automation

Knowledge of backup and recovery technologies

Excellent documentation and communication skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

At least five years of experience in the information technology field

Emergency medical services (EMS) experience highly preferred

Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Azure, etc.) preferred

Experience with Group Policy and Windows networking technologies

Experience with JIRA and integration through webhooks (preferred)

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

WORK SCHEDULE AND LOCATION

Hybrid schedule with three days required on-site at the Terrell, TX office and two days remote each week.

Emergicon requires satisfactory pre-employment background check and drug screenings.
