About the Role:

As our programs and services continue to grow and diversify to meet the evolving needs of newcomers to Canada, we are seeking a Support Services Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating essential support services (e.g. interpretation, transportation, provision for disabilities, etc.) to meet the diverse needs of newcomers, while ensuring staff have the resources and support they need for successful outcomes.

The Support Services Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening organizational capacity by centralizing critical client support services currently managed across multiple programs. The position ensures that newcomer clients receive personalized, comprehensive support, helping them overcome barriers to accessing IRCC-funded settlement programs and services.

In this role you will:

  • Recruit, train, and maintain a roster of interpreters or external professionals who assist with service delivery.
  • Oversee digital literacy initiatives, ensuring newcomers have access to necessary technology and support for online services, job searches, and communication.
  • Collaborate with program leaders and staff to assess participant needs and support staff in accessing resources and tools to effectively meet client needs.
  • Work closely with other YMCA staff and community partners to improve coordination, responsiveness, and overall quality of services.
  • Develop training materials for interpreters and create resource documents to support staff in delivering high-quality services.
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking and evaluating support service requests and utilization.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with external service providers and community partners to enhance service delivery.
  • Monitor program targets and outcomes and track service effectiveness to inform program improvements and reporting.
  • Maintain adherence to organizational policies, funding requirements, and confidentiality standards.
  • Evaluate existing services to identify unmet needs and propose solutions to improve access and outcomes.
  • Carry out administrative duties, including maintaining accurate client records in databases, tracking service statistics, and generating reports for funders.
  • Coordinate budget-related tasks associated with support services.

Education & Skills Qualifications:

  • Relevant education and/or a combination of training and experience in social services, human services, community development, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the settlement or non-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of systemic barriers and intersectional considerations; experience working with newcomers, racialized communities, or other equity-deserving groups.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess newcomer client needs and translate them into effective support services.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff, participants, and community partners.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional, and data-driven program reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop training materials and resource documents.
  • Experience facilitating both large and small group sessions or workshops.
  • Strong networking, community outreach, and rapport-building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, and Zoom, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information.
