Surplus Sales Development Representative – Overview
This role will primarily focus on surplus asset management and sale of used equipment — developing strategies to manage disposition channels and ensure regulatory and financial compliance for surplus disposals and executing those strategies to maximize recovery value. Reporting to the Supply Chain Lead, you will also support our Buyer team by being proficient in the execution of the purchase-to-pay (P2P) process, including strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and analysis, issuance of Purchase Orders (POs) and effectively troubleshooting issues related to the process.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 1 year with the possibility of becoming a permanent role. Canlin provides a flexible working environment with the opportunity to work remotely one day per week.

The Role
Surplus Asset Management & Used Equipment Sales
- End-to-end surplus sales and asset disposition activities, including identifying surplus, determining disposition strategy, marketing assets, negotiating sales, and ensuring timely removal and settlement.
- Execute a surplus sales strategy aligned to asset type, condition and market dynamics.
- Establish KPIs for surplus sales, metricizing success and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare sale packages and listings (detailed condition reports, high-quality photos, serial numbers, certifications, and documentation) to drive buyer confidence and higher sale prices.
- Manage relationships with third-party marketplaces, auction houses, brokers and scrap vendors; solicit bids, negotiate fees, set reserve prices and finalize sale terms to optimize net proceeds.
- Ensure accurate invoicing, receipting and financial reconciliation of sale proceeds.
- Coordinate with Finance on revenue recognition, taxation, depreciation, and cost recovery reporting.
- Maintain rigorous surplus inventory control and disposition records.
- Identify and promote internal redeployment opportunities to reduce new purchases.
- Train and advise internal stakeholders on surplus identification, approval processes and packaging standards to improve sale outcomes.
Supply Chain Support
- Serve as a point of reference for the P2P process, providing guidance and support to end users and business units while ensuring governance requirements are met.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure contracts and purchase orders are in place for procurement of goods and services.
- Lead sourcing and competitive bid processes, consulting appropriate stakeholders throughout.
- Support Senior Buyers in negotiation of complex contracts, including terms and conditions.
- Assist with strategic sourcing to identify successful vendors and award purchase orders.
- Execute strategies to consolidate spend, reduce vendor base and enhance value.
- Identify, plan and execute cost-reduction opportunities.
- Actively manage key vendor relationships, including development and tracking of KPIs.
- Ensure contracts are managed in accordance with the Master Services Agreement (MSA).
- Work with stakeholders to identify requirements and proactively procure goods and services.
- Support vendor onboarding and record keeping; respond to inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
The Person
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business/Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of surplus asset management, used equipment sales, or asset disposition experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry
- Basic working knowledge of procurement contract terms and commercial negotiation.
- Familiarity with competitive bidding procedures and purchase-to-pay processes.
- Working knowledge of procurement systems (experience with Maximo Purchasing an asset).
- Demonstrated experience with supply chain management, including hands-on procurement and vendor management preferred.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office; experience with asset/inventory management systems and online sales platforms would be an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary groups such as Finance, Operations, Facilities, Drilling & Completions and Legal.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on commercial outcomes.
- Proven organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of regulatory and environmental requirements related to equipment disposal, export/import controls and hazardous materials management is an asset.
- Comfortable conducting physical equipment inspections and coordinating logistics for staging and transport.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
