St. Martin’s Episcopal School is hiring summer camp junior counselors to work for our 2024 St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp. All St. Martin's Episcopal School Summer Camp Counselors must be available from June 3, 2024 - June 28, 2024, and July 8, 2024- August 2, 2024. There will be MANDATORY staff training on June 1st.. The training time will be made available to you by May 1, 2024. Meals are provided to camp counselors at no extra cost.

First and foremost, camp junior counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers. At all times, a counselor should present themselves as positive role models and be enthusiastic. Junior counselors are expected to maintain open lines of communication with their direct camp division leader and to work cooperatively with other counselors. Being a camp counselor is one of the most rewarding jobs you can ever have.

You will report to your St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp division lead and tend to campers that range from 4 - 11 years old. You will have daily interactions with other counselors, campers, parents/caregivers of campers, and all St. Martin's Episcopal School staff that work on campus during the summer.

Regular Camp for the children is Monday through Friday. 

Job Description

  • Responsible for working with their Division Leader and other Group Counselors to ensure campers are supervised at all times

  • Move the group from activity to activity promptly

  • Must sit at a table with your group during lunchtime

  • Responsible for group management and organization during lunchtime, camp arrival, and camp dismissal

  • Must actively and enthusiastically participate in all activities, engage in Specialist activities providing assistance and support in activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, sports instruction, fitness, and outdoor

  • Assist their Division Leader by being prepared with a variety of activities for rainy days, last-minute schedule adjustments, and downtimes

  • Provide daily care of each camper within your supervision including recognition of personal health needs and take primary responsibility for ensuring safety policies are followed at all times

  • Collect and hand out afternoon snacks for your group

  • Responsible for taking group attendance each morning

  • May be asked to perform other duties as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description

  • Attend daily morning Division meetings

  • Attendance is mandatory at all camp staff meetings and training events

 

Qualifications

Summer Camp Counselors

  • Must be 16-17  years old (by June 3, 2024)

  • Must have at least one year of experience working with children

  • Must be CPR/AED & First Aid Certified (we provide CPR training sessions before the start of camp)
