St. Martin’s Episcopal School is recruiting division leaders to work for our 2024 St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp. All St. Martin's Episcopal School Summer Division Leaders must be available for no less than 4 weeks from June 3, 2024 - June 28, 2024, and July 8, 2024- August 2, 2024. There will be training on May 18th for Division Leaders only and a full staff training on June 1st. The training time will be made available to you by May 1, 2024. Meals are provided to division leaders at no extra cost.


First and foremost, division leaders are responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers. At all times, division leaders should present themselves as positive role models and be enthusiastic. Division leaders are expected to maintain open lines of communication with the Director and to work cooperatively with other counselors. Being a Division Leader is one of the most rewarding jobs you can ever have. 


You will report to the St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Day Camp Director and tend to campers that range from 4 - 11 years old. You will have daily interactions with other counselors, campers, parents/caregivers of campers, and all StM staff that work on campus during the summer.


Regular Camp for the children is Monday through Friday.


Job Description

  • Responsible for campers, staff supervision, camp staff meetings, and training events

  • Lead daily division meetings in the morning

  • Collect group binders to hand out during the morning meetings

  • Primarily responsible for knowing each camper's special needs (food allergies, medications, emergency contact information, and other information required for the safety of campers)

  • Coordinate and discuss camper care with the Camp Nurse and/or Camp Director when appropriate.

  • Teach all skills through participating or by working with small groups

  • Supervise morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal

  • Maintain discipline during each activity.

  • Serve as the primary responder to all camper concerns or behavioral issues, and report issues to the Camp Directors when appropriate. 

  • Follow and administer St. Martin's Episcopal School Summer Camp policy

  • Collect daily attendance from each group in the division and bring rolls to the Camp Director each morning

  • Supervise lunch by making sure each table has a counselor sitting with them

  • Attend counselor meetings as scheduled

  • Attend MANDATORY division leader training on May 25th and staff training on June 1st

  • Ensure campers are supervised at all times

  • Ensure counselors are actively participating in all activities

  • Responsible for addressing the performance problems of counselors directly, fairly, and promptly and for reporting all performance problems to the Camp Director

  •  Provide ongoing positive and constructive feedback, and support, give direction to campers and group counselors, and will assist the Camp Director in the evaluation of Group Counselors and CITs

  •  Must be prepared with a variety of activities for rainy days, last-minute schedule adjustments, and downtimes

  • May be asked to perform other duties as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description


Qualification             

  • Must be 22 or older
  • 2 years experience working with children Current teachers preferred
  • College degree preferred
  • Must be CPR/AED & First Aid Certified (we provide CPR training sessions before the start of camp)
