Position Summary:  We are looking for floating Camp Counselors "Floaters" to join our team this summer! Are you an enthusiastic and friendly person that loves working with diverse groups of young people in a natural outdoor setting?  Our Floating Camp Counselors support our group Counselors and Specialists, as needed, with a variety of tasks that typically can change by the day. While this position will be directed by our camp leadership team, a proactive and flexible mindset is important.As the leader for a group of campers, you'll guide them through a series of daily activities, cultivating values such as cooperation, respect, and community. Prior experience is not required; our comprehensive training program ensures you're well-prepared for this fulfilling role. This opportunity can be a fun outdoor summer job, or can mark the beginning of a rewarding career dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children!   Previous camp experience preferred, but not required for this position. We will train. 

Position Type: Seasonal/Full-Time (Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm)

Season: June 3rd-August 9th (10 weeks)

Training: June 3-7

Compensation: $13.00/hour


Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise a group of 10-15 children between the ages of 6-15 while serving as their role model and primary caregiver Monday-Friday during camp hours of 9am-3pm.  

  • Prepare, conduct, and adapt camp activities from provided activity plans according to weekly themes. 

  • Engage campers with a fun, welcoming, and safe atmosphere for exploration, learning, and play.  

  • Guide your campers through various activity areas, ensuring a safe and timely transition.

  • Provide the daily care of each camper in your assigned group including assisting with personal health needs and assist with personal/health/behavioral concerns.  

  • Actively participate in the daily opening and closing of camp during the season including cleanup of facilities and preparation of program areas.

  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Maintains kindness, humor, and patience with children and coworkers, even while facing stressful situations.

  • Self-motivated and willing to step in when there’s a need to be fulfilled.

  • Physically able to navigate uneven outdoor terrain including slopes, steps, riverbeds, and woods.

  • Resilient and maintains positivity in challenging weather including rain, heat, and high-humidity.


Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must successfully pass the FBI/BCI Background Check.

  • Must successfully complete Summer Camps Training. 

  • Previous day camp experience preferred but not required


Opportunities:


  • Paid weeklong camp training provided at $10.45/hour

  • Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification provided.

  • Free participation in activities such as zipline course, climbing wall, and high ropes

  • Children or younger siblings can attend summer camp free of charge
