SUD Counselor
Position Title: SUD Counselor
Responsible To: Clinical Supervisor (if applicable), Clinical Director
Responsible For: Chemical dependency counseling, case management and treatment planning for clients who have been referred for services.
Minimum Qualifications: CDCA, LPC, LSW, LISW, LCDC III (or comparable certification) with two (2) years of professional experience in the field of chemical dependence or mental health treatment of adolescents.
FUNCTION:
Counsels individuals or groups on topics of chemical dependency. Provides case management and treatment planning for clients who have been referred for services in a residential setting in compliance with state, federal, agency, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and all other applicable rules and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supports the mission and vision of Young Star Academy as evidenced by compliance with all organizational policies and procedures and regulatory entities.
2. Supports and facilitates positive interaction with others as evidenced by professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
3. Exhibits effective communication skills including proper use of agency communication systems.
4. Exhibits sound stewardship by effectively managing resources to achieve the objectives of Young Star Academy.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conducts chemical dependency assessments.
2. Directly provides and coordinates SUD services that are problem focused and built on individual’s, family’s and community strengths.
3. Provides chemical dependency counseling (individual, family, group), and chemical dependency education.
4. Maintains necessary documentation. Submits notes in a timely manner.
5. Attends treatment team and clinical supervision meetings.
6. Meets billing productivity as established by Young Star Academy.
7. Creates Monthly Progress reports for each resident.
8. Advocates for the rights, decisions and needs of clients and promotes their access to resources, supports, and services as part of the facility's SUD Case Management process.
9. Assists in training of interns and staff.
10. Meets all professional licensure and continuing education requirements in accordance with the local, state and Federal laws.

Completes child abuse referrals as required of all mandated reporters. Documents observed reportable incidents.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
