YMCA Pre-Kindergarten programs support families and foster healthy development of children. Our programs help children to build self-confidence, learn healthy behaviours, and develop strong values. Based on the YMCA Playing to Learn emergency curriculum our all-day child car program is licenced by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The goal is to challenge and motivate children by creating a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment. Support is provided to families while diligently adhering to government regulations and YMCA policies, procedures and standards. We are seeking a Substitute Early Childhood Educators to join our Child Care Team for various locations across the province. Successful candidates would be placed at the most appropriate workplace to meet the centre needs. Locations can include Avalon Metro, Avalon Rural, Burin Peninsula, Bonavista Peninsula and Labrador regions.
Job Requirements
- Enrolled in or graduated from and Early Childhood Education Certificate, Diploma or Degree program
- Level Trainee or higher (Level 1-4)AECENL Certification with Pre-K classification
- Experience working in early learning
- American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle
- Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Checks are reviewed on an individual basis
- Must be able to lift and move children, materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds) on a consistent basis. As well, physical effort, strength and endurance is required in the care and supervision of children, e.g., maintaining balance, kneeling and bending, pushing and pulling strollers and carts, light housekeeping duties and moving quickly to assist children in case of emergency situations.
