Front Desk receptionist- Administrative Clerk

Position Summary
Performs a variety of medical office duties ranging from receptionist, checking patients in for appointments, appointment scheduling, handling medical records, insurance billing and correspondence. Assist administrative department as needed with various assignments.
Responsibilities
- Greets patients or customers in a friendly and professional manner, including welcoming the patient, making eye contact, and smiling.
- Checks-in patients for appointments.
- Completes the registration of the patient, explaining the paperwork to be completed to the patient if necessary.
- Ensures that a clear copy of the patient’s current insurance card(s) and demographic information is entered into the patient’s medical record. Prints the superbill and gives to the patient.
- Enters electronic messages to other departments to assist with patient flow.
- Accept patient payments.
- Performs appropriate, timely, and accurate documentation in the medical record as is applicable to patient service duties.
- Maintains HIPAA privacy and security and provides the LOSC Notice of Privacy Practices to new patients or to any person who requests it.
- Distributes patient satisfaction surveys as instructed by Supervisor or upon patient request.
- Performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of LOSC.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Maintain neat and organized work area. Report safety issues to the Front Office Supervisor or Risk Management/Safety Officer immediately.
- Work efficiently and manage time wisely. Assist other employees when all duties are complete or as dictated by significant need.
- Communicate any problems, difficulties, or concerns regarding job duties to the Front Office Supervisor.
- Perform all duties consistently and without significant error.
- Meet all deadlines and timeframes for completion of assignments.
- Represent LOSC in a professional manner at all times. Demonstrate outstanding ability to interact positively with physicians, staff, and “external” customers (e.g. patients, family members, vender representatives, etc.). Exhibit good communication skills with physicians, patients, supervisors, and co-workers at all times.
- Maintain a harmonious relationship with other LOSC employees in order to accomplish the duties and responsibilities of the position and to carry out the overall mission of the Clinic. Notify the Front Office Supervisor or Clinic Manager of issues with other employees or patients that cannot be amicably resolved.
- Work and relate cooperatively with all other employees of LOSC to assure optimum care for the patients of LOSC and to achieve standards of care set forth by the LOSC medical staff.
- Adhere to the LOSC Compliance Plan as it pertains to the above specific job duties. Use best efforts to maintain compliance by following the LOSC Compliance Plan, attending LOSC compliance education, following medical documentation guidelines, and communicating concerns regarding compliance issues.
- Perform accurate and complete documentation in the patient’s medical record, when applicable
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to the HIPAA standards of privacy and security.
- Adhere to the LOSC Personnel Policies Manual and its contents.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Front Office Supervisor, Clinic Manager, or CEO.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of patient/customer reception techniques
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to learn computerized medical office work.
