Job Overview
With a focus on our patients’ health, the Pharmacist in Charge at Sweetgrass Pharmacy and Compounding is responsible for a wide variety of areas that includes managing all operations and supervising pharmacists and other pharmacy staff at our Seaside Farms location. The ideal candidate will truly want to make a difference in the lives of our patients in our service area. This is a full-time position with the ability to work a rotation on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Employee Management
- Manage all staff pharmacists and staff to ensure Sweetgrass Pharmacy standards and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This will include display of excellent communication skills by scheduling weekly meetings, directing employee tasks, and evaluating performance regularly.
- Ensure the proper training and ongoing competency of all pharmacists, technicians, and other supportive employees.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, and development of all employees.
- Maintain staff culture and contribute to the team in a positive manner.
- Manage and maintain staff schedule, ensuring adequate coverage during flux.
Operations
- Manage daily pharmacy operations including inventory control and prescription processing and checking.
- Obtain and maintain all applicable licenses.
- Maintain the pharmacy in compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations.
- Ensure the security of employees, the pharmacy, inventory, and patient records.
- Ensure the uninterrupted staffing and operation of the pharmacy.
- Budgeting and forecasting for Seaside Farms, including payroll, and conducting financial reviews with COO and CEO. Set monthly and quarterly goals to achieve.
Patient Care
- Provide exceptional patient care through medication counseling and personalized healthcare advice through in-person interactions, over the phone or text messaging.
- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently, ensuring all prescriptions meet legal and professional standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and the local community.
- Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients on the proper use of medications, potential side effects, and lifestyle modifications for better health.
- Administer vaccines to patients.
- Enter prescriptions in Pioneer’s priority queue.
- Place drug orders and count narcotics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution, or Registered Pharmacist (RPh)
- Active Pharmacist license in South Carolina
- Minimum of 6 years related experience. Independent or community setting preferred.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Compounding experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Pharmacy environment.
- Growth mindset with business/financial acumen.
- Ability to lead a team, coach staff, and delegate responsibilities.
- Ability to ensure accuracy of entering patient information.
- Stay current with industry trends, new medications, and regulatory requirements.
- Pleasant demeanor and ability to handle a variety of customer service issues.
- Must be collaborative and able to perform as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple math.
- Knowledge of PioneerRX a HUGE plus.
- Ability to learn new software and programs.
