Description:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting transactions which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the finance team in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The successful candidate will be technically competent, possess excellent communication skills, is forward thinking and is a team player.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Utilize QuickBooks to maintain records according to generally accepted accounting principles.
Review all vendor and independent contractor invoices for proper documentation, coding, and approvals.
Record all vendor invoices and all cash receipts into the accounting system, and file copies of cash receipts.
Maintain W-9 documentation for all vendors.
Prepare 1099 forms at year-end.
Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable monthly.
Reconcile bi-weekly payroll.
Assist Assistant Controller with basic reconciliations.
Assist with grant tracking.
Assist with gathering information and supporting documentation requested during annual financial statement audits.
Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
Minimum of two years of experience including accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, and payroll is preferred.
Experience in non-profit organizations preferred.
Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software is preferred.
Experience in BILL is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Accuracy and attention to detail are absolutely required, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize effectively.
Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
All other duties as assigned
