POSITION SUMMARY: Supports the Museum’s mission by providing support to ongoing finance and accounting functions related to the Museum, the Museum Store, Museum Parking and Museum Cafe’s activities. Performs day-to-day general accounting functions, specifically in the areas of accounts payable, monthly closings, journal entries, financial analysis, and financial statements.
· Assist with accounts payable functions, including processing, reconciliation, and reporting for the Museum, Museum Café, and related entities.
· Reconcile petty cash fund and various general ledger accounts, including preparing monthly closing entries and bank reconciliations for all museum entities.
· Assist the Controller in the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, including subsidiary analysis (retail, parking, café/bar, and private events).
· Record daily sales and process payables for café/store.
· Perform data analysis on museum attendance, café/store sales, and other financial activities to identify opportunities for improvement.
· Maintain the fixed asset system and track fixed assets.
· Support the preparation of files for the annual audit and other audit activities.
· Assist in the issuance of annual financial statements.
· Provide financial reports and staff support to the Controller in a timely manner.
· Coordinate the monthly/year-end closing process and ensure compliance with established financial guidelines.
· Work with Development to balance memberships and contributions received to the general ledger.
· Review past-due receivables for collectability.
· Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to provide insights to the executive committee and restaurant management team.
· Assist with special projects as required.
· Perform day-to-day administrative tasks and other related duties as assigned.
· Strong understanding of basic GAAP principles and accounting practices.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other computerized accounting and spreadsheet applications.
· Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities and workflow.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
· Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, showing versatility and flexibility in adapting to changing priorities.
· Strong customer service skills, with the ability to respond to requests for service and assistance.
· Effective in prioritizing, planning, and organizing work activities, setting goals, and developing action plans
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
· 1-3 years of relevant Accounting/Finance experience.
· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
· Experience in not-for-profit sector preferred.
· Familiarity with Altru and Financial Edge is a plus.
