Staff Accountant
The Apartment Gallery is recruiting for a full-time Staff Accountant at our corporate headquarters in York, PA. A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. 2-3 years of experience is preferred.
$25 - $30 / hour, based on experience.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting
· Excellent time management, attention to detail, and verbal communication
· Ability to work with confidential information.
· Skilled in computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook as well other general computer programs.
· Thorough knowledge of general accounting, including application of general accounting theory
· Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines.
· Experience with accounting software preferred.
· Prior experience with a property management company a plus
Responsibilities:
This position is the back-up to the Senior Accountant. Therefore, this position is cross trained on all duties and responsibilities of the Senior Accountant, including, but not limited to:
· Receive, process, and maintain new vendor packets, certificates of liability and W9 information.
· Administer 1099 Reporting at year end.
· Receive, process, and enter vendor invoices.
· Prepare and process intercompany billings through OneSite accounting software.
· Receive, analyze, track, and enter utility invoices.
· Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
· Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations between the general ledger and subsidiary ledger.
· Address issues that arise with bank transactions
· Maintain and reconcile checkbooks for various entities including deposit entry and intercompany transfers.
· Assist in analysis of in-house escrow accounts.
· Assist with Month-end and Year-end close processes, including posting journal entries on an as needed basis.
· Help prepare state filings including personal property returns, unclaimed property returns and other miscellaneous taxes and licenses.
· Performs basic office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, processing mail, filing, etc.
· Supports all functions of the accounting department.
· Assist the Accounting Manager as needed; working on special projects as management requests
· Other duties as assigned.
Expected Results:
- Ensure that invoices are entered by the dates listed in the accounting calendar and paid by the appropriate due date.
- Ensure that Mortgage Statements are paid by the 5th of each month.
- Ensure that payroll and intercompany transfers are completed on a bi-weekly basis.
- Reconcile bank statements at month end, and weekly throughout the month.
Essential Physical Qualifications:
· Bending, climbing stairs, kneeling, lifting up to 15 pounds, stretching, squatting, and walking
Non-Essential Physical Qualifications:
· Running and lifting over 15 pounds
Authority:
· Recommend any changes which will expedite or correct problems within the scope of the position to the Accounting Manager
· Implement these changes upon the approval of the Accounting Manager
Relationships:
· Reports to the Accounting Manager

· External contacts: vendors, bank employees, investors
