Sr. Prevention Specialist
Alabama Regional Medical Services (ARMS) is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Prevention Specialist to join our Medical Department. This position plays a vital role in supporting ARMS’ mission to promote health and wellness through prevention, education, and access to care.
The Senior Prevention Specialist works closely with the HIV/Prevention Services Manager to ensure the successful implementation of prevention programs. This role involves providing health screenings, community outreach, and education, as well as assisting patients in accessing preventive services and care such as PrEP. The Senior Prevention Specialist also provides administrative and operational support to the Prevention Department, helping coordinate events, manage supplies, and maintain the Mobile Health Unit (MHU).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including vital signs and medical histories
- Administer point-of-care HIV screenings, provide results, and offer counseling
- Perform blood glucose, blood pressure, and BMI screenings
- Link patients without a primary care provider to appropriate ARMS services for evaluation and treatment
- Provide care management by identifying and addressing barriers to care
- Assist patients with scheduling appointments, updating information, and navigating health services
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and program databases
- Support PrEP inreach and outreach education campaigns
- Collaborate with the Prevention Services Team to identify outreach priorities and develop event calendars
- Maintain and sterilize Mobile Health Unit equipment and clinical areas
- Manage supply inventory, ordering, and restocking
- Coordinate event setup and breakdown for community outreach activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (Certification required)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Clinical Medical Assistant preferred
- Strong clinical and administrative skills to ensure excellent patient care and efficient operations
- Valid Alabama driver’s license and insurable driving record required
- Ability and willingness to drive the Mobile Health Unit
