Sports Counselor
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sports Counselor position supports the work of the YMCA of Collier County, Inc., a leading not-for-profit organization committed to strengthening the communities in Collier County through its core focus areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes sports and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the Gym and T-Ball Field. Instructs sports practices and games in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all ages and skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for assisting in the planning and development of weekly sports activities and schedules.
Responsible for coaching and refereeing multiple sports.
Responsible for set up and break down of all sports season and camp activities
Attend all department meetings
If unable to work due to sickness, vacation, etc. responsible for communicating to the supervisor.
Responsible for working with a team in the facilitation of sports activities.
Responsible for the safety of children at all times.
Responsible for managing behaviors and disciplining bad behaviors when necessary.
Responsible for following proper drop-off and pick-up procedures of participants each day.
Responsible for following proper protocols and procedures from the YMCA.
Responsible for working scheduled hours and accurate completion of timecards.
Responsible for effectively communicating with parents and children of sports programs.
Responsible for communicating all needs, concerns, and requests of the parents, participants, and general campers to the Sports Director.
Responsible for any other duties deemed necessary by the Sports Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification in areas of expertise when applicable.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Onsite attendance is required of this position.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention and Appropriate Touch classes
Completion of the YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training
Completion of the Social Media & Digital Communications class
Completion of the YMCA’s Safe Lifting training
Additional training classes as required for this position to meet YMCA quality standards.
