Splash Lagoon- AM Slide Attendant
SUMMARY
The Slide Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of assigned water slides and attractions. The Slide Attendant maintains a safe environment for guests by enforcing ride rules, monitoring rider behavior, and ensuring that all guests enter and exit the attraction safely. The Slide Attendant must remain attentive at all times and respond quickly to any safety concerns or operational issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Must be able to read and interpret printed material, signage, and operational instructions.
2. Must have good hand-eye coordination and situational awareness.
3. Must be able to:
a) Anticipate potential safety concerns related to rider behavior and slide operation.
b) Monitor riders entering and exiting attractions to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
c) Ensure proper spacing and dispatch timing between riders when required.
d) Identify and respond to unsafe behaviors or conditions quickly and appropriately.
e) Communicate clearly with guests and team members regarding rules and safety expectations.
f) Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
g) Protect personal safety and the safety of guests.
h) Follow all operational and safety procedures established by the Aquatics Department.
4. Able to assist guests entering or exiting attractions when necessary.
5. Able to stand for extended periods while monitoring attraction activity.
6. Able to visually inspect riders, slide conditions, and surrounding areas with 20/20 vision in both eyes (with or without corrective lenses).
7. Able to hear and respond to guest concerns or distress signals even outside direct line of sight.
8. Able to communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across busy or noisy environments.
9. Ability to follow technical instructions and operational procedures.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The Slide Attendant is responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests using the attraction.
2. The Slide Attendant is responsible for enforcing all posted ride rules, height requirements, and safety regulations.
3. The Slide Attendant must remain attentive to the attraction at all times and never leave their assigned position without proper relief.
4. The Slide Attendant is required to assist in maintaining a high level of customer service and guest satisfaction.
5. The Slide Attendant may assist with basic attraction inspections and reporting of maintenance or safety concerns.
6. The Slide Attendant performs other tasks and related duties as assigned by management and supervisors.
7. The Slide Attendant must wear an approved uniform and any necessary job-related safety equipment during assigned shifts.
8. The Slide Attendant may be subject to both pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screening during the tenure of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
1. Ability to properly and safely operate equipment associated with the attraction.
2. Must be 16 years of age or older.
3. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, staff members, and supervisors.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining focus and attentiveness.
5. Must be firm, fair, consistent, and courteous in enforcing rules and policies.
6. Must demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a team.
7. Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during unexpected situations.
8. Must possess good verbal communication skills.
9. Ability to recognize and report unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
10. Independent judgment concerning work methods and procedures may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
2. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, stretch, and climb without difficulty.
3. Ability to work in elevated positions such as slide platforms or stairs.
4. Ability to assist guests as needed when entering or exiting attractions.
5. Works in tiring or uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. Able to work in a team environment as both a team member and independently.
2. Must work in environmental conditions that include, but are not limited to:
a) Wet and humid environments
b) Indoor conditions with high humidity and temperatures ranging from approximately 70°F to 120°F
3. Possible exposure to water, chemicals, fumes, dirt, odors, and cleaning agents.
4. Uniformed position.
