Shifts: 8am – work load completed

Days: average of 3-4 shifts a week M-F

Weekends: only as needed

Location: 5837 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919

Compensation: $41.00- $46.00 per hour

 

Your Role in the Company


The Speech Therapist tests and evaluates the patient: recommends and implements appropriate programs according to the principles and practices of Speech Pathology.

Essential Elements of the Role

Appropriately evaluate (initially and periodically throughout care) patients in the following areas:

• Auditory comprehension
• Problem solving/reasoning
• Orientation/insight
• Pragmatics
• Prosody
• Attention
• Organization
• Recall of information
• Written language
• Reading
• Oral mobility
• Dysphasia
• Cognitive level

Develop and implement appropriate treatment programs:

• Orient patient to individual programs to address problems identified
• Develop realistic personal goals with patient.
• Apply therapeutic modalities effectively.
• Design and instruct patient/family in appropriate exercise programs.

Demonstrate knowledge of test administration in use of various tests used in speech evaluation.

Other Responsibilities

• Elicit and record information about patient’s medical history.
• Communicate with physician with written and verbal reports of patient status, progression, and treatment plan to meet patient’s goals.
• Complete all documentation per agency policy including timely recording of all evaluation data, treatments, and patient’s response to therapy interventions.
• Participate in the recertification/re-evaluation of the patient at least every 60 days and PRN as necessary and revision of the plan of care as patient’s condition warrants.
• Respond to patient needs and concerns.
• Maintain safe equipment and environment.
• Attend agency care conferences.
• Participate in the quarterly clinical record review committee meeting.
• Follow agency policy and procedure at all times.
• Maintain current membership in appropriate professional organizations.
• Maintain open lines of communication with administrative staff and line staff.
• Maintain record of communication with other staff.
• Supervise case every 14 days when CNA services are provided and ST is the only skilled service being provided.
• Plan for discharge with patient/family.
• Participate in agency scheduled training programs.

• Recommend appropriate interagency and intra-agency referrals.
• Advise and consult with family and agency staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Practice infection control measures and techniques and use standard precautions.
• Respect the rights of patients and families.
• Comply with HIPAA regulations regarding confidentiality.
• Consult supervisor in all areas where policy/procedure are not fully understood.
• Utilizes supplies efficiently and records supply use per policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

·         Education/License: Graduate of an accredited school of Speech Therapy approved and registered by the American Speech Therapy Association with a B.S., B.A., or M.S. degree. Must possess a current certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology or audiology granted by the American-Speech Language-Hearing Association; or, meet the education requirements for certification and be in the process of accumulating the supervised experience required for certification.

 

·         Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet. As a Physical Therapist, you will provide physical therapy to patients and established plan of care, in a professional, competent manner, while upholding excellence with quality of care.
