Position: Regional Social Worker
Department: Cohasset Health Department
Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000
Schedule: Full-time (35 hours/week)
Location: Hybrid (field work and remote)

Overview:
The South Shore Public Health Collaborative (SSPHC) is seeking a full-time Regional Social Worker to serve the communities of Cohasset, Scituate, and Hingham. This grant-funded position focuses on providing short-term counseling, case management, and program development for adults aged 18–60. The Social Worker will also offer expertise on mental health, substance use, hoarding/clutter, veterans' issues, and more.

This position is funded through June 2027 with an anticipated extension through June 2030.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Community Health Directors and Shared Services Coordinator, the Regional Social Worker will:

  • Deliver case management services to residents aged 18–60; assess and refer individuals to appropriate mental health, medical, and protective services.

  • Perform crisis intervention and provide short-term individual, family, and group counseling.

  • Offer clinical supervision and facilitate case conferences for local community social workers as needed.

  • Collaborate with municipal departments (e.g., Elder Affairs, Public Health, Veterans’ Services, Police, and Fire) on mental and behavioral health matters.

  • Identify high-risk populations and emerging public health concerns in the region.

  • Develop and facilitate educational and support programs on mental health, substance use, hoarding/clutter, and veterans' issues.

  • Provide scheduled office hours at municipal locations across participating towns.

  • Seek and support grant opportunities to enhance social service programming.

  • Maintain confidential records in accordance with federal and state regulations.

  • Supervise social work interns and provide regional cross-coverage as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Social Work from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional social work experience.

  • Relevant part-time, internship, or volunteer experience may be considered.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and case management systems.

  • Strong knowledge of state laws and local bylaws governing human services and social work.

  • Ability to design, coordinate, and evaluate effective plans and procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on working across diverse populations and municipal teams.

  • Capacity for independent work, organizational follow-through, and accurate record-keeping.

Additional Information:

  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a CORI check, pre-employment DOT physical, drug screening, and other required background checks.

  • This is a grant-funded position through June 2027, with an anticipated extension through June 2030.
