Position: Regional Social Worker 

Cohasset Health Department 

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000

Hours: Full-time (35 hours)

Location: Hybrid

The South Shore Public Health Collaborative (SSPHC) is hiring a Social Worker to provide short-term counselling and case management for a target population between 18-60 years old for the Towns of Cohasset, Scituate and Hingham. The Regional Social worker will also develop programs and provide expertise on variety of issues including mental health, substance use, hoarding/clutter, veterans’ issues, etc.

 The position is full-time and grant-funded through June 2027 with an anticipated extension through June 2030. 

The ideal candidate should be a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and have at least 5 years of experience in the delivery of clinical and social services. This Regional Social Worker must possess strong communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to collaborate with partners in governmental and non-governmental community organizations.

The Regional Social Worker, at the direction of the Community Health Directors and Shared Services Coordinator, will be responsible for the following duties:

Provide case management services focusing primarily on a target population of 18-60 assess and refer individuals to mental health, medical, supportive, and protective services agencies as needed.

Perform crisis intervention; provide short-term individual, family and group counseling. 

Provide individual and group clinical supervision and case conferences for current community social workers in the SSPHC as needed.

Collaborate and advise various local municipal government departments (including Elder Affairs, Public Health, Veterans’ Services, Police, and Fire) concerning resident’s mental and behavioral health needs.

Identify high-risk populations and areas of growing public health needs in the region.

Develop and facilitate educational and supportive programs on a variety of issues such as mental health, substance use, hoarding/clutter, veterans’ issues, etc.

Provide Social Work Office Hours at various locations as needed.

Research grant opportunities to support or expand social service programs within the SSPHC.

Maintain appropriate and confidential departmental and program record in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Provide supervision and oversight of Social Work interns.

Provide social work cross-coverage for communities in the SSPHC.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Education:

Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with specialization in social work. Independent Licensure in the state of Massachusetts (LICSW).

Work experience:

At least five years of professional social work experience. Part-time work, internships, and volunteer experience may be used to meet the professional work experience requirement.

Equivalent combinations of experience and education that provide the necessary skills will be considered.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Office, and case management software.

Knowledge of state laws and town bylaws related to social work and human services.

Ability to design and implement effective procedures and plans.

Ability to deal tactfully and appropriately with the general public and town departments in an effective manner.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Ability to maintain accurate records.

Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
