Sourcing Specialist

Kamloops, BC Full-time $65000.00-$75000.00/year

Dawson Group is looking for a Sourcing Specialist who will assist with corporate-wide sourcing initiatives.

In this role you will be a valued member of the Dawson Group working in a permanent, full-time position of Sourcing Specialist, reporting to the Manager, Sourcing. You will be responsible for parts and material buying, vendor negotiation, and category spend analysis to assist in the development and evaluation of procurement operations. You will also help identify sourcing opportunities and contributing to annual savings targets through leadership and subject matter expertise.  Your base location will ideally be Kamloops, B.C. The Dawson Group embraces distributed work, meaning the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home and/or at our office.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Negotiate price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers

Assist in the creation and management of controls for overhead and fixed asset spending

Maintaining strategic sourcing relationships and developing strong partnerships with vendors 

Assessing quotes and compiling a detailed assessment of cost breakdowns

Generating quote comparisons and contributing to internal supplier selection based on the quotes

Monitor raw materials to minimize increases of material costs

Conduct “spend analysis” to determine top “spend” items, commodities, activities, or suppliers to leverage and promote the most effective use of company funds

Facilitate or assist to resolve supplier issues

Assist in the development of short and long-term strategic execution plans

Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders

Assist with development of supply chain quality management programs.


WHAT YOU BRING

Related University degree or College diploma, Red Seal Trade Certificate and/or combination of education and experience in Strategic sourcing

5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or material management in mid-sized to large organizations

Demonstrable experience in initiating and managing sourcing projects and initiatives

Knowledge of mechanical parts for equipment and construction materials

Previous experience in material buying and other relevant procurement activities

Ability to form and maintain effective internal and external relationships

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in MS Suite of software
