We are seeking a skilled Software Development Manager to join our dynamic software development team. This position will report directly to the Director of Software Engineering and will be responsible for managing all software developers in the department, setting clear development standards, and ensuring best practices are followed across projects and teams.  


The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with exceptional people leadership, as they will be asked to mentor and coach developers working primarily in C#, React, C++, and SQL Server. 

 
Key Responsibilities 


  • Lead and manage all software developers within the department, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

  • Define, implement, and maintain development standards, best practices, and processes to ensure code quality, consistency, and scalability. 

  • Partner with the Director of Software Engineering to align team objectives with broader organizational goals and technology strategy. 

  • Help establish and track key development metrics to assess team performance and drive data-informed improvements. 

  • Prepare and present regular reports on development performance and progress to leadership. 

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to teams, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and effectively. 

  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews. 

  • Mentor developers at all levels, helping them grow their technical expertise, leadership skills, and overall career development. 

  • Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and onboarding for development staff. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, QA, and Operations to ensure smooth delivery of high-quality software solutions. 

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and drive initiatives that improve team productivity and morale.

 

Required Qualifications: 


  • 7+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role. 

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring software development teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong background mentoring and leading developers working in C#, C++, React/TypeScript, and SQL Server. 

  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, methodologies (Agile/Scrum), and lifecycle management. 

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and enforce coding standards, architecture patterns, and review processes. 

  • Experience defining and reporting on key development metrics and using data to improve performance and delivery outcomes. 

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse technical teams. 

  • Experience with performance management, career coaching, and professional development of engineers. 

  • Proficiency with GIT and familiarity with JIRA. 

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills 


    Starting compensation will be commensurate with experience and in consideration of current salary. This role would be eligible for a performance bonus.
