Village Media’s Cares team is growing and we are looking for a passionate storyteller and community connector to join us in our mission to create positive lasting change in the communities we serve.
The successful candidate will be someone with a deep understanding of social media, who knows how to write effective copy and stop the scroll with meaningful, local-first content.
About the role
As a Social Media & Marketing Coordinator, you will be the voice of our community impact initiatives across all digital platforms. This role will:
Plan, create and deliver community-focused social media campaigns, surprise activations and storytelling projects
Grow engagement and foster genuine community connections across platforms
Use social media analytics to track performance and refine strategy for audience growth
Build and nurture relationships with local readers, non-profits, businesses and residents
Collaborate with local editorial and business development teams to amplify the impact of Cares team initiatives
Write compelling digital content that celebrates good news, community heroes and local changemakers
Help evolve the membership program across the Village Media network
Create compelling member communication pieces on a regular basis
Assist with the execution of special events, donation drives and community gatherings
Represent Village Media at local events
You are a great fit if you:
Are a strong communicator with previous experience in media, marketing, journalism, communications or community engagement
Have a solid understanding of social media and newsletter best practices
Are fluent in trends, video editing for social and how to build a digital community from the ground up
Are an excellent problem-solver
Have strong time management and organizational skills
Maintain consistent superior attention to detail
Have a knack for storytelling and can write everything from a punchy caption to a heartfelt community profile
Have a love for community and believe in the power of local
The successful candidate must live in or near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
