Small Engine/Light Equipment Mechanic
J&B Installations, Inc. is a commercial and industrial roofing contractor specializing in EPDM, PVC, and TPO membranes. We are family owned and operated and have been the leading commercial roofing company in New York State for over 40 years. J&B Installations is located in Skaneateles Falls, NY with jobs located throughout the greater Central New York area.
This position will primarily focus on testing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing or rebuilding various equipment used in the roofing industry. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and possess a strong willingness to learn, with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues. Prior experience is preferred.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
- Inspect, test, and maintain a variety of small engines and light equipment used in roofing industry.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems in engines, tools, and equipment.
- Repair or rebuild engine components and other mechanical parts.
- Repair and maintenance of 23 pick up trucks
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and maintain stake rack fleet,
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and maintain Caterpillar telescoping forklifts
- Perform routine preventative maintenance services on all equipment.
- Adjust and replace parts as necessary to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical or electrical issues that arise.
- Maintain accurate and detailed reports of repairs, services, and maintenance performed.
- Follow safety protocols and work in a clean, organized environment.
- Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude with a strong willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently when needed.
- Punctual, reliable, and professional in appearance and attitude.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy equipment.
- Valid NYS Drivers License required; CDL-A a plus
- Diesel mechanic experience a plus
- OSHA 10 required
- Experience in the roofing industry preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
