Your Role
Slide Attendants are active and important members of the Aquatic Team. Slide Attendants facilitate fun, ensure a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for members, guests, and teammates.
Your Responsibilities
• Prevents injuries by providing public education and responds appropriately when first aid treatment and/or emergency response/rescue is required.
• Performs slider height checks and monitors slider safety.
• Will monitor pool areas to a maximum depth of 1.2 m.
• Performs wristband checks.
• Monitors the general cleanliness and safety of the aquatic centre area including change rooms and immediately rectifies unclean and/or potentially hazardous conditions in a proactive nature, whenever possible.
• Help assist with set ups, takes down and safely stores equipment and bulkheads according to a prearranged schedule and does so in a timely and cooperative manner.
• Provides exceptional service to aquatic Centre users.
• Coach and mentor volunteers.
• Will attend all in-service training and monthly skills/fitness challenges.
• Performs other duties associated with the safe and effective operation of the Aquatic Centre as required by supervisory employees.
Qualifications: Education & Experience
• Minimum 15 years of age.
• Intermediate First Aid (Standard First Aid) with Level C CPR Certificate is required.
• Lifesaving Bronze Medallion or Lifesaving Bronze Cross Certificate is required.

Working Conditions
• While performing the essential functions of this job, some tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort, typically involving some combination of standing, standing at a height, sitting, sitting at a height, crouching, walking, climbing, swimming, performing work while wet and/or performing the aforementioned tasks for extended periods of time.
• Emergency tasks and regular staff training events involve the performance of physically demanding work, which may involve some combination of running, climbing and/or swimming and may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling heavy objects including distressed persons on land or in the water, including performing work while wet and/or performing the aforementioned tasks for extended periods of time.
• Slide Attendants must maintain the ability to demonstrate “Must See” items from the appropriate governing body’s current publication standards to the satisfaction of the employer at all times of scheduled employment.
• Safe lifting, bending, carrying and rescue techniques and the use of a rescue aid in the water and the coordination of rescue with a second rescuer and rescue aids in the water, when possible, are required.
• Safe use of employee protective equipment is required.
• This position requires a flexible schedule including statutory holidays, early morning, late night, and weekend work.
