Shop Foreman

We specialize in rebuilding large hydraulic cylinders, repairing heavy industrial equipment, and building large steel fabrications.
Our team has an opening for a Shop Foreman who will play a leadership role on the shop floor – driving daily operations, supporting our skilled team, and ensuring jobs are executed efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Training
- Mentor, train, and lead all shop personnel to foster a safe, organized, productive, and team-oriented work environment.
- Take the time to learn personalities, skill levels, and workflows of the team before asserting authority – leading with respect and collaboration.
- Lead by example – be willing to assist with any task as needed to keep jobs moving forward.
Operational Oversight
- Review and manage the daily work schedule in Kanbanize, coordinating with the Operations Manager and direct employees to ensure work progresses according to plan.
- Preview incoming jobs to ensure tooling, drawings, and materials are ready in advance.
- Work closely with office staff to ensure the shop has required tooling, consumables, and materials to meet production needs.
- Oversee the scheduling maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and calibration of measuring equipment.
- Monitor and improve manufacturing and production efficiencies by recommending and implementing process or equipment improvements.
- Check employee hours in Visual ERP and approve timecards and labour tickets accurately and on schedule.
- Evaluate the job requests, prepare workflow processes and work towards providing backfill for Operations Manager with cost estimates for customers.
- Adapt to changing priorities and urgent work by starting early or staying late as required.
Customer & Shop Relations
- Maintain strong relationships with employees and customers, ensuring clear communication and follow-through.
- Handle customer inquiries professionally and coordinate with the appropriate internal teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Listen, respond, and follow up to the needs and requests of the shop employees and management.
- Follow and reinforce policies and procedures put in place for employee safety.
- Coordinate and follow-up on the shop cleanliness and the facility maintenance.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Millwright, Machinist, or other applicable work experience.
- A minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in industrial repair and assembly, preferably with hydraulics, machining, and welding experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity, ideally in a jobbing or machine shop setting.
- Understanding and ability to read assembly drawings.
Skills & Abilities:
- Technical Knowledge – strong understanding of hydraulic systems, machining practices, welding processes, honing, and painting operations.
- Computer Proficiency – experience with ERP systems (Infor Visual ERP and Kanbanize experience is an asset), as well as proficiency with Outlook and Excel.
- Leadership – flexible but firm leader with excellent interpersonal skills; able to motivate and guide diverse teams.

- Organized – excellent organizational skills both physically (warehouse, shop, and workspace) and digitally (documentation and systems).
Working Conditions:
- General manufacturing shop specializing in cylinder rebuilds and industrial equipment repairs.
- Monday to Friday – 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Overtime as required.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and walk/stand for extended periods of time in shop area.
- Fast-paced environment requiring high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
