Shipfitter/Lead Worker

Position Overview
Join us in supporting PSNS Shop 11 with your shipyard experience and expertise! This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional to engage in ship structure tasks, ensuring excellence in every aspect of the job.
Contract Duration: March 3, 2025 – December 19, 2025
Compensation: $32 - $34 per hour with weekly pay and 7 days per diem.
Key Requirements:
· Citizenship- U.S. Citizen with proof (original/certified birth certificate or U.S. passport). Must obtain a "DBIDS" badge.
· Certification-Maritime OSHA 10 certification.
· Experience-Previous shipyard experience required.
· Working Hours- 40 - 70 hours per week.
Scheduling:
· Diverse shifts including 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour shifts.
· Monday through Friday with overtime, and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Structural Work:
· Perform removal, alteration, repair, and installation of ship structures.
· Manufacture templates and fabricate structures/fittings (e.g., bulkheads, foundations, ladders).
· Prepare surfaces for welding and perform post-weld clean-up.
· Manage tank access covers relevant to other work areas.
2. Lead Work:
· Medically cleared to handle raw lead, lifting weights up to 80 pounds.
· Lead worker duties require training in operating required respiratory PPE.
· Familiarity with safety protocols such as Lead Awareness, OSH Lockout/Tag-out, Hazardous Energy Control, Fall Protection, Hearing Conservation, and Eye Safety Awareness.
· Capability to work in confined and enclosed spaces.

· Safety Adherence: Strict compliance with Maritime OSHA 10 safety standards.

· Instruction Following: Ability to follow written and oral instructions relating to daily tasks, safety rules, and possible hazardous conditions.
· Relationship Building: Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
