Venture Dynamics is actively seeking Shipfitters.
Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Ship Fitter to join our team specializing in commercial and U.S. Navy ship repair. The ideal candidate will have expertise in fabricating, assembling, and installing structural components on various vessels. This role requires a strong understanding of shipbuilding techniques, blueprints, and welding procedures to ensure high-quality repairs and modifications.
Key Responsibilities:Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work specifications to determine the scope of repairs or modifications.
Fabricate, fit, and install structural components, including bulkheads, frames, and foundations, using welding and cutting techniques.
Utilize hand and power tools to shape, align, and secure metal plates and structural elements.
Perform tack welding and grinding to ensure proper fit and alignment of components.
Inspect and measure workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
Work closely with welders, pipefitters, and other trades to complete repair and construction tasks.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Adhere to industry regulations and company quality standards for ship repair and maintenance.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of ship fitting experience, preferably in a commercial or U.S. Navy ship repair environment.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in ship fitting, welding, or metal fabrication is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and work specifications.
Strong knowledge of shipbuilding and repair techniques.
Experience with welding (TIG, MIG, Stick) and oxy-fuel cutting.
Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
Strong attention to detail and quality control.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications: Welding certifications (preferred but not required); OSHA and maritime safety training is a plus.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
