Service Technician
SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Hours: 40 – 50 hours per week as scheduled
Reports to: Service Manager
The following outline of a job description is to serve as a guide for expected job performance. It is not intended to limit individual initiative. Lakeside Marina reserves the right to add or delete job responsibilities.
FUNCTIONS:
Perform repairs and maintenance to customers product as directed
Perform repairs and maintenance to dealership’s product as directed
Interact with customers as needed in a professional manner
Take proper care of dealerships equipment and repair as needed
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Keep service comebacks under 5%
Keep customer satisfaction at 90% or higher
Keep efficiency percentage at an acceptable level
Keep productivity at an acceptable level
Keep work area and tools in a clean and orderly manner
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Satisfaction on all matters related to service department
Work together with all other employees in all other departments to ensure customer satisfaction and contribute to dealer profitability
Maintain a professional image through proper attire and good personal hygiene
Be punctual regarding starting and quitting times and act responsibly regarding lunch breaks, errands, etc. in regards to time clock management
Maintain and take care of all dealership owned equipment, tools, manuals, etc.
Notify Service Manager of any repairs or maintenance that are needed to any of dealership owned equipment
Keep work area clean, neat, and in a safe manner
Perform all duties in a safe manner, and act responsibly toward all employees and customers to prevent any injuries from occurring
Conserve shop supplies and expenses
Notify Service Writer or Service Manager of any unsafe operating condition found on any customers boat
Notify Service Writer of any required or recommended repairs found on customers boats
Notify Service Manager of any damage incurred to customers equipment
Perform work as directed in a professional manner so that all items are repaired properly the first time
Complete work orders and make detailed noted so service staff can complete an accurate work order for every customer, and so the dealership can bill out all repairs
Properly tag all warranty parts and turn over to Service Office
Properly collect all old parts and place in bag or box for customers inspection
Do not exceed customers approval amount without authorization from service office
Communicate with customers as needed in a professional and cordial manner, making sure that they understand any required repairs and thereby will have a higher level of satisfaction regarding the dealership
Read over Service Bulletins as received in order to stay current regarding Fix Campaigns, Tech Tips, etc.
Continually strive to become better techs, and therefore more valuable employees
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic understanding of mechanical repairs, maintenance, tools, etc.
Good health and mobility
Must own hand tools as required to perform basic repairs
Should have at least two years of experience repairing marine equipment similar to the products that this dealership offers
Should have received factory training on similar product

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Dealership will make every effort to train Service Techs during period of employment
Service Techs will be offered training thru e-skills as required prior to classroom training as well as in addition to classroom training
Classroom training will be scheduled at one to two weeks per year as availability and scheduling will permit
Service Techs that achieve Certification will be scheduled as is needed to keep certification current
