 OVERVIEW:

The Service Desk Analyst will provide first line technical support to student, faculty and staff experiencing difficulties with computer hardware, computer applications and communications software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for call/walk-in traffic to troubleshoot hardware/software issues
  • Respond with prompt first-person customer service when requested. This could entail the setup, deployment, troubleshooting, or instructional use of various computer, audio visual, or telecommunication systems on Campus.
  • Setup computers for new hires
  • Assist in the deployment of telecommunication equipment for faculty and staff. This includes the setting up of physical phone lines, phones and voicemail access.
  • Assist in the creation / maintenance / permission-setting of user accounts (students, staff/faculty)
  • Troubleshoot classroom issues ie; projectors/sound
  • Experience manipulating video, audio, graphic formats using common multimedia application suites
  • Work on larger ‘department’ projects as assigned by Manager
  • Participate in yearly preventative maintenance tasks (ie; projector cleaning, dorm printers, laptop loaners, classroom desktops, iPads etc.) to ensure up time is maximized
  • Assist in the installation, configuration and maintenance of all wireless routers and airports across and throughout all academic/administrative buildings as well as all dormitories across the campus.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration and maintenance of switches, routers and punch-panels in various locations across the campus

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 3 Year College Diploma or University degree in Computer Science and/or Computer Programming Analyst
  • Knowledge of both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems in a distributed, multi-protocol, networking environment.
  • Competent working knowledge of current Mac and Windows application suites.
  • Knowledge of Mac/PC hardware repair procedures down to the module level.
  • Knowledge of various web-publishing techniques and tools, wired and wireless networking technologies
  • Knowledge of HTML and current Web technologies
  • Software installation, integration and troubleshooting methodologies and best practices
  • Able to pass and maintain an Apple portable and/or desktop certification
  • Pass a police clearance to work in a student environment
  • Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional order
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating technical concepts at both high and deep levels
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a background in analyzing new requirements and assessing both business and technical impact
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
