Server/Wine Ambassador
The overall role of a server is to provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional experience for all guests. Below is a list of the typical job responsibilities for a server:
- Prepare tables for guest meals ensuring tables and chairs are clean and sanitized.
- Welcome all guests that enter the winery.
- Escort guests to their tables, present menus and answer menu questions.
- Inform guests of daily specials and menu changes and, as necessary, offer recommendations.
- Describe and recommend wines to guests.
- Upon request, explain to guests how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
- Take food, beverage and wine orders and enter them into the point of sale system.
- Prior to entering wines orders, check guests' identification to ensure they are at least 21 years old and legally able to consume alcoholic beverages.
- Promote wine club membership and upcoming winery events to guests.
- Serve food and/or beverages to guests.
- Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses and pour the wine for guests.
- Monitor guests to ensure they are satisfied with their food, beverage and service; respond promptly and courteously to correct any issues.
- Monitor guests to ensure that wine is not served to visibly intoxicated individuals.
- Promote the WEW wine club, bottle purchase for home consumption and upcoming winery events.
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to the kitchen/bar for cleaning.
- Provide itemized checks and collect payments from guests.
- Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining.
- Monitor wine bottle inventory in display racks and restock as necessary.
- Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, taking out the trash, checking and cleaning the restrooms, etc.
- Coordinate with and assist fellow team members to meet guests' needs and support the operation of the winery.
- Other side work and duties as assigned.
