Senior Systems Integration Engineer
Position Summary.
The Senior Systems Integration Engineer will be a key member of the engineering integration team, which is responsible for integrating the instrument, consumable, and assay chemistry of Nuclein’s molecular diagnostic system. The Senior SIE will work closely across the different teams responsible for primary development of these subsystems to ensure performance requirements will be met. These teams include the engineering team, the assay team, manufacturing, software development and quality. Working with independence, they can effectively execute projects relative to these goals. They are highly collaborative, proactive in their communication, and can relate problems, plans, results and next steps with effective communication. We are seeking an experienced individual contributor who can design, execute, and interpret experiments aimed at troubleshooting and characterizing sample-to-answer medical devices, with a particular focus on sample preparation and assay chemistry performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
· Conceive, design and execute system-level studies that address high-priority integration issues that span the instrument/consumable/assay
· Lead characterization and optimization of sample prep workflows
· Lead the development and execution of experimentation that isolates and characterizes different aspects of assay and system performance.
· Be a leader in the thoughtful approach to scientific analysis that supports data-driven technical decisions.
· Independently design, execute and analyze studies in the wet lab that utilize PCR, sample prep, nucleic acid extraction techniques, and quantitative analysis of data
· Serve as an integration bridge between engineering, assay development, consumables, software, and manufacturing teams.
Education, Qualifications, and/or Experience.
· Bachelor’s degree in a technical field relative to systems integration such as an engineering or physics degree
· At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the medical device field or diagnostic industry
