We are currently searching for a dynamic, energetic Route Supervisor to join our Peel Collections team. Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be a hands-on Supervisor assisting all with all aspects of the collection's operations, as well as supporting the needs of municipal contracts. You will develop the skill set to ensure the highest standard of operational excellence and environmental health and safety to ensure our customers attain the best level of service.

What will you do?

Route Optimization & Planning:

  • Supervise the development and execution of optimal delivery routes, minimizing travel time and fuel costs while ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Use routing software to adjust and improve delivery routes based on real-time factors (traffic, weather, road closures, etc.).
  • Analyze historical data to forecast demand and develop proactive route plans.

Team Management & Leadership:

  • Lead, train, and mentor your team of Route Supervisors, to ensure high performance and adherence to company standards.
  • Set clear performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations of team members.
  • Address performance issues, resolve conflicts, and ensure team motivation.

Fleet Management:

  • Coordinate with maintenance and fleet departments to ensure vehicles are properly maintained, safe, and compliant with regulations.
  • Monitor vehicle use, ensuring drivers follow safety protocols and operational guidelines.

Customer Service & Communication:

  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with customers regarding delivery statuses, issues, or delays.
  • Work with customer service teams to resolve delivery-related complaints or service failures.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements and service level agreements (SLAs).

Operational Efficiency:

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, fuel consumption, and on-time performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement cost-reduction initiatives without sacrificing service quality.
  • Review and enforce adherence to industry regulations and company policies.

Reporting & Data Analysis:

  • Provide regular reports on route efficiency, team performance, and other operational metrics to senior management.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to identify trends and make data-driven decisions for future route planning.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all routes and drivers comply with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., hours of service, safety requirements).
  • Conduct safety audits and training to mitigate accidents and violations.
  • Ensure all vehicles and drivers maintain required certifications and inspections.

What will you bring?

  • Preference will be given to those candidates with Waste Management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education (preferably in logistics, business administration, supply chain management, transportation management, or operations management).
  • 2-5 years of experience, leading a supervisory team
  • Route optimization and planning
  • Fleet and driver management
  • Logistics software proficiency
  • Performance monitoring and improvement
  • Strong communication and customer service
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Proficiency with performing pre and post trip inspections, as well as accident investigations
  • Able to plan, prioritize and execute against tight timelines
  • Intermediate database, spreadsheet, and word processing skills within a Microsoft environment
  • DZ/AZ license required.

Annual Salary: $75,000-$80,000
