Summary 

Soul Community Planet is embarking on a rapid growth strategy over the next 2-3 years and is looking for a financial leader to help create a world-class organization. We are looking for a creative financial innovator who is willing to roll up their sleeves. Reporting directly to the CFO and spending strategic time with the COO, the Senior Director Hotel Controller is the lead hotel financial and accounting professional in the SCP organization and responsible for all forecasts, financial reports, and analysis that will assist in achieving bottom-line objectives.  This role supervises all regional controllers and is responsible for the overall direction, development, and evaluation of the team as well as compliance with company policies. The ideal candidate must be hands-on, have excellent organizational skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.  Ours is a relationship-oriented business, and strong relationship and partnering skills are vital to this role. 

 

Location:  Remote (western states preferred) with an estimated 20% travel

The Job*

v  Supervision of all regional corporate controllers

v  Establish, document, maintain and audit accounting policies and procedures

v  Manage takeovers of new properties and integration of new accounting systems, etc.

v  Develop accurate forecasting tools and use data to create predictive analytics spreadsheets

v  Oversee daily general accounting activities such as payroll accounting, prepaid and accrual, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, expense report processing, accounts payable, and capital projects

v  Understand and comply with all corporate, partnership, debt, and other contractual documents for all assigned entities.

v  Ensure appropriate controls are in place to maximize profits and minimize losses by retaining revenues, reducing expenses, and safeguarding hotel assets

v  Oversees the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and other financial and operating reports.

v  Develop and manage enterprise dashboard with KPIs for all properties

v  Manage the development of the budget and forecasting templates to be utilized by all properties

v  Manage financial onboarding of new hotels into SCP’s Portfolio

v  Develop financial projects to assist management in creating short- and long-term financial goals and strategies

v  Other duties as apparent or assigned

 

Experience and Education

v  Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with at least 8-10 years applicable experience in multi-property oversight

v  At least five years of strong people management and team leadership with the ability to hire and develop talented individuals

v  Hands-on leadership experience in a broad array of business situations ranging from growth to integration

v  Technical and analytical capabilities with a deep understanding of GAAP and USALI

v  Expert in hotel accounting and property management systems; experience with M3 Accounting Core and M3 Insight preferred

v  Extensive knowledge of takeovers of new properties and integration of new accounting systems, etc.

v  Expert in Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheets and formulas. Highly knowledgeable on hotel purchasing system; a plus for Avendra/ iBuy efficient experience

 

Working Conditions**

o    Physical capabilities for lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.

o    Sit or stand for long periods

o    Perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements consistent with office work

o    Ability to travel to any hotel location
