Senior Contaminated Sites and Assessment Specialist
Are you a Senior Contaminated Sites and Assessment Specialist who is looking for a supportive team of hard-working individuals and a large portfolio of assessment and remediation projects to continue your professional growth? NorthWind Land Resources Inc. is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Contaminated Sites and Assessment Specialist to join our team, based out of our headquarters in Edmonton or our Calgary office. Alternative working arrangements (e.g. home office/hybrid schedule) will be considered for the right candidate.
In this role, the successful candidate will join a growing assessment team and play a lead role in the planning and provision of technical oversight for all NorthWind client programs completing ESA and remedial work. This role will include supporting program and project managers, and sharing your technical expertise with senior, intermediate, technical, and junior staff in NorthWind’s rapidly growing assessment and remediation portfolio. This position will ensure that NorthWind assessment projects and programs are executed using appropriate technical standards; as such, the suitable candidate will have a strong working knowledge and will remain up to date with the contaminated sites regulatory framework in Alberta.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Member in good standing with the AIA and/or APEGA with professional sign-off on assessment and remediation technical work in Alberta.
- 10+ years of applicable experience in the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Subsoil Salinity Tool (SST) certification and experience.
- Working knowledge and experience applying Tier 2 guideline development (site specific guidelines, pathway exclusion, etc.).
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies.
- Strong formal and informal leadership skills, with a focus on mentoring and motivating employees.
- Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
- Demonstrated program and project management skills.
- Coaching - Engages in regular, structured discussions with project managers to improve individual employee performance and attain organizational objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide senior technical support on NorthWind’s assessment and remediation projects by working with and supporting program and project managers.
- Analytical interpretation, and creation and review of outcoming conclusions and recommendations.
- Provide senior review and sign-off on assessment and remediation reporting deliverables and record of site condition submissions.
- Creation and review of assessment/remediation work plans.
- Review of third-party reports to identify data gaps and provide next steps to achieve regulatory closure.
- Oversee team members to ensure work is being performed according to established standards.
- Training and mentorship of NorthWind staff in areas of expertise; willingness to train and guide technical staff in the field/on the job considered a strong asset.
- Coordinate activities with project managers by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly.
- Oversee the development of standards, procedures, and health and safety measures related to assessment and remediation work scopes.
