Objective: To partner with the CFO and the Business Operations team to support the financial operations of the School.

Summary: The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and support budgetary compliance along with financial reporting. This person will work collaboratively with the members of the Leadership team and St. Martin’s families to protect the financial health of the School. This individual will be responsible for accounts receivable, payroll reconciliations, revenue accounting and financial statement preparation.  This position collaborates with the Admissions staff on financial aid and enrollment projections.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly in advance of financial statement preparation.

Monitor all accounts receivable activity, including student accounts, tuition payment plans, incidental billing and following up on failed payments. 

• Review and reconcile monthly payroll and all benefits contributions and charges.

Reconcile tuition revenue and report historical revenue as required.

• Statutory reporting and ad hoc reporting.

• Support audit requests for the annual audit.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, twelve-month position. Travel and some weekend and evening work will be required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• A minimum of two years of general ledger accounting experience preferred.

• Ability to meet and maintain effective relationships with parents, faculty, administrators, and guests.

• Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 

• Proficiency in Excel required.

Follow all established procedures, guidelines, and schedules for data input and operations.   

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: 

Strong organizational skills; knowledge of Google programs, Word, and Excel; willingness to learn new software programs; the ability to compose letters and handle miscellaneous correspondence; and excellent communication skills.
