Senior Accountant

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant – will be responsible for multiple accounting functions, including but not limited to general ledger account reconciliations, financial reporting, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, payroll activities, revenue reporting, and budget preparation. This position will be close liaison to the Finance Director in financial reporting and analysis throughout the organization’s financial operations.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate month-end/quarter-end/year-end accounting close process
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Nonprofit Accounting
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Accurately and efficiently record cash receipts, journal entries and account reconciliations 
  • Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Accounts Payable, Prepaids, Fix Assets, Accruals
  • Assist with payroll processing
  • Assist Sales Tax calculations, payments, and reconciliation
  • Assist preparing 1099 and 1096 tax forms
  • Bank statement, credit card and other general ledger account reconciliations
  • Research technical accounting and reporting issues
  • Assist with annual Financial Audits
  • Assist with preparing annual financial operating budgets by department and periodic financial reports
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in classifying and recording of financial and business transaction data
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial schedules 
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations 
  • Prepare and/or review monthly Revenue Analysis to measure performance across all business lines
  • Ability to document, control, review, and improve policies and procedures
  • Serve as back-up for all accounting functions
  • Special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required 
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of operation are scheduled Monday – Thursday with occasional evenings and weekends as job duties demand. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to move about inside the office and file rooms to perform a variety of tasks
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
  • Must be able to frequently lift 15 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (preferred) 
  • 4+ years’ progressive experience in technical accounting
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, Ramp and Netchex a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, Google Suite, and other technical software 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in an office setting where the work and general environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in a service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.
