Position Summary 

The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of our patients, staff, visitors and facilities.  The Security Officer will serve as the first line of defense in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment within Health Care Partners of South Carolina’s Conway facility.  This role requires vigilance, professionalism and the ability to respond calmly and efficiently in emergencies, while providing compassionate support to patients, families and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct routine patrols of the facility, including interior, exterior, and parking areas, to 

detect and prevent security risks such as unauthorized access, theft, or vandalism.

Monitor entrances and access points, verifying identification and controlling entry for 

staff, patients, and visitors.

Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical crises, fire alarms, and safety 

incidents.

Assist patients, visitors, and staff with directions, safety instructions, or evacuation 

procedures.

Enforce facility policies and procedures to maintain order and compliance with 

regulations.

Collaborate with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and internal management when necessary.

Conduct preventative inspections of doors, windows, medical equipment areas, and 

sensitive spaces.

Provide first aid or CPR assistance as appropriate until professional medical services 

arrive.

Maintain a visible and professional presence to deter unsafe behavior or security threats.

In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, you may be asked to perform other duties that are reasonably related to your role and consistent with your skills and experience to support team goals, respond to changing business needs, or address unforeseen challenges.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; further training or coursework in security, criminal justice, or public safety preferred.

Must be able to become SLED certified within 60 days of employment and maintain certification 

Class One law enforcement or hospital security experience with SLED certification preferred

Strong observational skills, situational awareness, and attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.

Physical fitness for patrolling, standing for long periods, and handling potential physical 

interventions.

Ability to remain calm under stress and make quick, effective decisions during 

emergencies.

Knowledge of public safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and legal 

regulations.

Customer-service orientation with a compassionate and approachable demeanor.


Preferred Skills & Certifications


Must possess a valid SC Driver’s License.

CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Previous experience in healthcare or community service environments.

Familiarity with de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting facility inspections or responding to incidents.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., moving safety equipment or supplies).

Capability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed to inspect equipment or access restricted areas.

Visual acuity sufficient to monitor surveillance systems and read safety documentation.

Hearing ability to respond to alarms, communicate via radio, and engage in verbal interactions in noisy environments.

Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations, including rapid movement between facility areas.

May require occasional travel between clinic sites within the service area.
